To find topics in this Help system, click the book icons in the left navigation pane to see pages within, and click to view any page. You can also follow any linked text on a page to explore further, or use the Index or Search functionality available in the navigation pane. (In some browsers, you may not be able to open "books" in the navigation pane. If not, try any of the other ways to navigate through Fathom Help, or use a different browser.)
The best way to get started using Fathom depends on you. Try one of these suggestions:
TutorialsTeachers who like a self-paced and methodical introduction learn to use Fathom by working their way through the Tutorials. These guided activities include step-by-step instructions that introduce various features of Fathom. Working through a few of these will prepare you for classroom success with the software.
Fathom MoviesTeachers who like a visual introduction to Fathom can watch the Fathom Movies. These short screen-capture videos with narration show examples of how to use Fathom to accomplish specific tasks, and can be used alone, in conjunction with the tutorials, or as a reference to consult as needed. They can be accessed directly through the Fathom Help menu.
Sample DocumentsTeachers with a more exploratory style often browse the Sample Documents that come with Fathom. To get a sense of what Fathom can do with these samples, the Fathom document Getting Started includes data and instructions for starting to look at that data. Also, the subtopics in this section show just the basics of Getting Data and Beginner Graphing, which include links to the rest of Fathom Help for more functionality.
Fathom ReferenceTeachers who are ready to dig deeper into Fathom, will find information when they need it in the How To… and the Fathom Reference sections. Or for a more thorough understanding of the logic of the program, you can read Fathom Overview.
Professional DevelopmentKey Curriculum Press also offers a variety of professional development opportunities, including Webinars, Workshops, and Online Courses that range in subject from simply developing your technical skills with the software to much broader contexts of successful technology integration in specific school courses. Teacher conferences and professional gatherings are a place to find Fathom workshops offered by your colleagues. |
