Getting Data |
Getting Started > Getting Data Fathom is primarily a tool for exploring and analyzing data. How will you get data to work with? There are several ways, depending on what data you want and the form of the data.
•I want to use some data already in Fathom: Open a Fathom Sample Document •I want to type data to work with (Hint: use a case table): Enter Data from Scratch •I have data in electronic form that I want to bring into Fathom (Hint: paste it into a collection): Copy and Paste Data from Another Program •I want to work with data about individual people from the U.S. Census: Import U.S. Census Microdata •I want to begin by simulating data (take a brief tutorial and flip a virtual coin): Have Fathom Randomly Generate Data
Some other ways in which you can get data from outside sources are surveys and sensors. •I want to use web-based surveys to gather responses to questions as data (see Using Fathom Surveys). •I want to collect values from Vernier sensors and construct experiments around them (see Create Experiments and Connect Sensors).
