A Fathom Surveys account for an organization has three kinds of users—an organization administrator, instructors, and students. The table below explains who they typically are and what they can and cannot do.

Teacher, administrator, or computer technician

Authorize new instructors; see all instructors.

Upload surveys, add students, publish surveys or survey results

Receives an email from Key Online with information needed to get started. Initiates authorization of new Teachers using Key Online.

Instructor

Teacher or (less often) administrator

Upload surveys, fill out surveys, publish surveys and survey results, delete surveys, add/delete students, update student information and own user information

Add/delete instructors, view or modify anything belonging to other instructors

Receives email from Administrator with information needed to get started.

Student

Student or Anyone without Fathom access

Fill out published surveys, see and download published survey results. May be granted ability to upload surveys from Fathom.

Publish survey or survey results, modify anything on the website.

Typically one student account is used by many students to take surveys.
